Shepherds: Voices of Evangelism

One day, I went online and saw the most amazing shoe sale. What did I do? I called my friend. The sale was great and we purchased lots of shoes. When we come across something good, we feel compelled to share it with others.

When Jesus was born shepherds were taking care of their sheep. As the shepherds went about their business, an angel appeared and they were terrified. “but the angel reassured them. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people. The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David!” (Luke 2:10-11).  The shepherds witnessed the host of angels praising God. When the angels left, the shepherds said, “Let’s go to Bethlehem! Let’s see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.” (verse 15).

The shepherds found Baby Jesus. They understood that this child was no ordinary baby. Why did the angels choose this group of shepherds? I’m sure they were not the only group of shepherds taking care of sheep on that night. But that experience impacted their lives. “After seeing him, the shepherds told everyone what had happened and what the angel had said to them about this child.” (verse 17). They were the voices of evangelism: they shared the good news with everyone. What are you doing with the good news about Jesus Christ?

Thought for Today: Friend, let us tell the world about Jesus.
