What do you do when you are confronted with the challenges of life? You can crawl into a corner and feel sorry for yourself or you can roll up your sleeves and fight. But if you’ve never been in a fight, you might not know where to begin. However, if you’re been in a fight and you were on the winning side, you will face that challenge head on.
That does not mean that you might not be intimidated, but when you recall how your God snatched victory from defeat, you will be encouraged to press forward. The Psalmist declared: “I will [solemnly] remember the deeds of the Lord; Yes, I will [wholeheartedly] remember Your wonders of old. I will meditate on all Your works And thoughtfully consider all Your [great and wondrous] deeds.” (Psalms 77:11-12 AMP). There is power in remembering God’s mighty victories.
Sports teams love home court advantage during playoff games. If they become overwhelmed or discouraged the fan base will remember their past victories and let those tired players know that they did it before and they can do it again. It’s the same with people of faith. When challenges arise, our faith becomes strong as we remember past victories. The Apostle Paul said, “The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.” ( 2 Corinthians 10:4 NIV). When we remember God’s mighty works, it strengthens our faith. Don’t be intimidated by the size of your mountain; look to the One who can make your mountain into a molehill.
Thought for Today: Friend, remember and grow strong.
