Change is never easy; we love change but at times, we are afraid of what change demands of us. Change is full of possibilities and may require that we leave things and people behind.
The children of Israel were on the brink of change. They had been wandering in the wilderness for 40 years and were about to enter the Promised Land. So, Moses addressed the nation before they go into the land that God promised to them. Moses told them: “Obey the commands the Lord your God has given you and worship him with fear and trembling.” (Deuteronomy 8:6 CEV). Although he would not be there, instructed them in the way of the Lord so that they can lead successful lives walking with God.
Moses knew that the secret to success is obedience to God’s word. He was their leader for 40 years so he knew how difficult they could be. “Obey the commands of the Lord.” That’s the secret to successful living. I believe as people of faith, if we lived by these words, we would change the world. Why? Our lives would honor and please God and the world would see the difference in us. So those words were relevant then and they are relevant now. It is our duty to obey the Lord.
