It is the desire of every child of God to do remarkable things for God. When we read the pages of scriptures or the biographies of dynamic servants of God, we want to do remarkable things too. I wonder if we ever think about what that would mean in our lives.
There is something in Elijah’s life that has always baffled me. 1 Kings 17 begins when Elijah walked up to the king and declared that there would be no rain for the next few years until he says so. (1 Kings 17:1). We don’t know what the king thought about his bold declaration, but God sent him to hide by a brook. “Drink from the brook and eat what the ravens bring you, for I have commanded them to bring you food.” (1 Kings 17:4 NLT). This always amazes me. Ravens! I’ve always wondered why those birds. They are scavenger birds eating decaying animals for food. How could he eat that! Then one day my printer began to give trouble, and I tried to resolve the issue without success. Then one day someone gave me a printer that didn’t work. So, I decided to give it a look over. There was a piece of paper stuck in the printer; nothing was wrong with it.
God’s provision is not based on what we see or what we think. I could have looked at that printer and say, “I am not a garbage collector and threw it out.” However, the printer the ravens brought for me is a better HP printer than the one I had. I’ve had it longer than the one I paid for. If we keep looking at the ravens, we will miss God’s marvelous provision in our lives.
Thought for Today: Friend, God will use the ravens to provide for you.
