Infertility is a problem that plagued women all through time. It is a sad situation that some women go through that leaves them emotionally wounded. Their desire to conceive and bear a child in some cases remains an impossible dream.
Sarah, Abraham’s wife, had a problem with infertility. When God called Abraham from the Ur of the Chaldeans, God told him that He would make him into a great nation. (Genesis 12:2). How could that happen when Sarah was barren? Man looks at the situation and determines an outcome based on what they see. But faith in God, looks at a situation and sees the power of God at work, bringing change that man deems impossible. Twenty-five years later, in God’s time, Sarah gave birth to a son. “It was by faith that even Sarah was able to have a child, though she was barren and was too old. She believed that God would keep his promise.” (Hebrews 11:11 NLT).
What a miracle! It’s one that all the advances in modern medicine cannot accomplish. But what advances in modern medicine couldn’t do, God’s power and ability to bring change touched Sarah’s womb. Immediately, Sarah’s dead womb became fertile and she bore the son that God promised to Abraham. Although Sarah thought that she was too old to have as child, Abraham never doubted God. God’s ability to give Abraham and Sarah a child had nothing to do with their age but with God’s ability to provide. He waits until its humanly impossible then intervenes so that, we will know that He is God.
Thought for Today: Friend, “With God all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26).
