My favorite scripture for a new day is: “This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.” (Psalms 118:24 NLT). Every day is a new opportunity to experience the goodness of God.
It’s true that certain days feel tough as we move through different phases of life; however, that’s not a reason to let discouragement take hold or linger. Lamentations 3:22-23 says: “The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.” Each morning God blesses us with an allotment of fresh mercies. It reminds me of manna from heaven. When the children of Israel were in the wilderness, they picked up manna fresh each morning and that manna fed them for that day.
So let us cultivate the habit of looking to God as we greet a new day because our God is ready and able to go before us every day. Romans 8:28 tells us, “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” Those issues that want to dominate and defeat, God will give us grace to stand. Then we can shout and sing when we jump to verse 31: “What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? “Let’s step into our day with confidence in God.
