Have you ever felt trapped in a hopeless situation? You find yourself trapped in a life that wasn’t your choice, unable to see any way out. What do you do and where do you turn? This is nothing new; this situation has plagued mankind through the ages. As a result, we become people without hope.
How do we respond to hopeless situations? Rick Warren said, “What gives me the most hope every day is God’s grace; knowing that his grace is going to give me the strength for whatever I face, knowing that nothing is a surprise to God.” Grace is a gift from God; the dictionary tells us that grace is a willingness to be fair and to forgive. However, God’s grace goes deeper; grace is God’s unmerited favor where He gives us what we don’t deserve. While God’s people were in exile as punishment for their sin, God extended grace to them. “The Lord says, “All you who are thirsty, come and drink. Those of you who do not have money, come, buy, and eat! Come buy wine and milk without money and without cost.” (Isaiah 55:1 NCV). God is calling all those who are thirsty; He will supply living waters.
When Jesus met the woman at the well, He introduced her to the source of living waters. Jesus said, “If you only knew the free gift of God and who it is that is asking you for water, you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.” (John 4:10). She experienced that living water that only Jesus Christ can supply. Her response? “Come and see a man who told me everything I ever did. Do you think he might be the Christ?” (Verse 29). She told her community about Him. When need to do the same.
