He Believed: He was Baptized!

There comes a time in life when we are confused. It happens to people for a variety of  reasons. There are a variety of reasons that people experience confusion: sometimes it can be the side effects of medication, head injury, low blood sugar, or disease to name a few. But confusion is not always a permanent state.

Sometimes, we have confusion when we read the word of God. This happened to a man in the Book of Acts; he was reading a passage he did not understand. However, Phillip the Evangelist was nearby and heard him reading: “He was led like a sheep to the slaughter. And as a lamb is silent before the shearers, he did not open his mouth. He was humiliated and received no justice. Who can speak of his descendants? For his life was taken from the earth.” (Acts of the Acts of the Apostles 8:32-33 NLT). He asked the man if he understood what he was reading. Phillip took the time to explain the passage he was reading and shared the Good News about Jesus Christ. (Acts 8: 34-35).

The Good News requires a response from us; “Anyone who believes and is baptized will be saved.” (Mark 16:16).When the man saw water, he asked and Phillip baptized him. The man continued his journey rejoicing. (Acts 8:36-39). He understood that baptism is a necessary step in salvation. Sometimes people confuse the order, but you must believe first followed by baptism in water. You can continue ytour journey rejoicing also.

Thought for Today: Friend, were you baptized after you believed?
