Dr. Tony Evans said: “Destiny is your customized life calling for which God has equipped and ordained you in order to bring Him the greatest glory and the maximum expansion of His kingdom.” Jesus came to earth with purpose and destiny; He came to die and fulfill His Father’s plan.
In life, there are people who provide valuable assistance; they become important as you travel on the road to your destiny. Moses had Arron and Hur to provide support. Esther had Mordecai and Ruth had Naomi. When His moment of destiny was drawing near, Jesus knew that it was a journey He would take alone; Then Jesus said to them, “This very night all of you will run away and leave me, for the scripture says, ‘God will kill the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’ (Mathew 26:31 GNT). We often think that destiny is a mountaintop experience; sometimes it is and sometimes, it’s not. Jesus was determined to do His Father’s will. They went to Gethsemane to pray; He told them, “My soul is crushed with grief to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.” (Matthew 26:38 NLT).
When the weight of destiny rests on your shoulders, you cannot always depend on the support of those around you. Jesus went away and engaged in private prayer, leaving the disciples to pray. On three separate occasions, He returned and found them sleeping. When Judas arrived with the soldiers, the disciples ran away. (verse 56). Jesus’ destiny was not dependent on His disciples’ support; it was a journey He had to take alone. Likewise, your destiny is not dependent on those around you. Jesus accomplished His Father’s will; you must take responsibility for your destiny.
