Identify Your Destiny Helper

Earlier, we looked at David’s life and saw that he was connected to destiny killers. If we look at ourselves, we can see some similar connections in our lives. Sometimes, people can look at us and identify things in us that we can’t see in ourselves, and they use words and actions to make their preconceived opinions about us a reality.

For a while, that seemed to be the trajectory of David’s life; but God had a different plan. When David slew Goliath, change came into his life. “After David had finished talking with Saul, he met Jonathan, the king’s son. There was an immediate bond between them, for Jonathan loved David. From that day on Saul kept David with him and wouldn’t let him return home.” (1 Samuel 18:1-2) He made a loyal friend and got a new job. David excelled in his new job. “Whatever Saul asked David to do, David did it successfully. So Saul made him a commander over the men of war, an appointment that was welcomed by the people and Saul’s officers alike.” (verse 5).

If that wasn’t all, the women made a song about David: “Saul has killed his thousands, and David his ten thousands!”  This made Saul angry, and he decided that David had to die. But Saul’s son Jonathan, didn’t see David as a threat because David was his friend. Despite that, David was a success which made Saul angrier. Saul’s mission was to take David’s life. David and Jonathan had a conversation where David told him of his father’s plans. Jonathan devised a plan to determine his father’s intensions. When Saul realized that Jonathan was protecting David, he tried to kill Jonathan. Jonathan didn’t see David as a threat to the throne. He knew that God  rejected his father for disobedience and chose David so became his ally; Jonathan helped and supported David so that he could realize his destiny. In our lives God sends destiny helpers; sometimes we confuse them with destiny killers. It would have been easy for David to reject Jonathan because of his connection. To arrive at your place of destiny, you must identify who wants to help you and who wants to kill you.

Thought for Today: Friend, be a destiny helper.

Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
