The last Monday in May has been set aside to celebrate Memorial Day. This is a day to honor those in the military, who lost their lives in service for this country.
These individuals made a decision to serve but not a decision to die in service. They unwillingly paid a price they didn’t want to pay. Their family members are proud of their service, in spite of the high price it exacted from their lives. So we, the citizens of the United States of America, salute these brave men and women who gave their lives in service to others. When these service men and women enlisted, it was for a definite period of time.

No one wants to sacrifice their life and leave their family. Yet there was one man who did just that. He came to earth with the objective to die. Romans 5:6 says, “When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners.” So why was it necessary for Christ to die? We were weak and helpless, and unable to make our way back to God.
Our celebration of Memorial Day is incomplete if all we do is honor those men and women who lost their lives in service for their country. We must also honor the one who willingly laid down His life so that we can have the strength we need to walk right before God. “For the greatest love of all is a love that sacrifices all. And this great love is demonstrated when a person sacrifices his life for his friends”. John 15:13.
Happy Memorial Day! Enjoy and stay safe.
Thought for Today: remember God’s gift.
Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory
