Love Covers Offences

Hatred stirs up quarrels, but love makes up for all offenses. Proverbs 10:12 NLT

Love and hate, two words that get thrown together a lot. When young children are at play, they love each other while they are playing with different toys. When they each want the same toy, they hate each other. It’s the same with adults. Jacob and Esau both wanted their father’s blessing. Jacob got the blessing. Genesis 27:41 says, “From that time on, Esau hated Jacob because their father had given Jacob the blessing. And Esau began to scheme: “I will soon be mourning my father’s death. Then I will kill my brother, Jacob.”. When their mother heard what he said, she sent Jacob away.

So the two brothers lived in different areas with their families. One day, Jacob decided that it was time to go home. He remembered the words of his brother, but he decided to go home anyway. When Jacob came close to Esau, he arranged his family and stood behind them.  But Jacob remembered, his brother and approached him in love.  Jacob bowed before his brother seven times. When Esau saw Jacob, he ran to meet him. They embraced each other and wept together. The hatred that existed in their relationship evaporated and the love they had was rekindled. The Message Translation says it this way, “love pulls a quilt over the bickering.” The brothers were walking in love.

Thought for Today: Pull a quilt over the bickering

Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
