When people want to learn how to do something, they go to an expert in that field. If you want to learn how to cook, you don’t go to a mechanic. In the same way, if you want to do what is good, you go to the Lord. Matthew 4:2 says, “Jesus traveled throughout the region of Galilee, teaching in the synagogues and announcing the Good News about the Kingdom. And he healed every kind of disease and illness.” So we learn what is good from the Lord. Why is it important for the Lord to teach you what is good? Simply put, He has expectations from you.
When you walk with the Lord, He shapes your way of life. You become concerned about living a life that pleases God. Why? That is what the Lord requires of you. People of faith do not have the luxury to live in a manner that disregards the teachings of the Lord. 1 John 2:29 says, “Since we know that Christ is righteous, we also know that all who do what is right are God’s children.” So people of faith have a responsibility to do what the Lord requires of them.
