In life today, people are always looking for information. We want to know what is happening, and how what we hear impacts our lives. Sometimes we hear about something that happened in our community. So if you want to get more information, you need to find a witness who saw what happened. A witness is an important source of information. In criminal cases, both lawyers rely on witnesses to prove their case. The District Attorney wants a witness to put the defendant at the scene of the crime in the timeframe that the crime occurred. The Defense Attorney wants a witness to put the defendant away from the crime scene at the time the crime was committed.
Witnesses are important in many areas of our lives. There importance is not limited to the court room. Today, online shopping is at an all time high. You have to use the information on the screen to make a decision. What do you do? You rely on the voice of the witnesses. In other words you read the reviews. The person who reviewed the product has first hand information from their experience with the item. You would not refrain from a purchase because one individual was unhappy. You look at the body of witnesses before you make a decision. Witnesses are further classified into two groups: ordinary and expert. An ordinary witness is someone who saw what happened. Then there are expert witnesses. This type of witness is an expert in some area of the crime. So an expert witness is valuable. Hebrews 11 gives an account of expert witnesses in their experiences as men and women of faith.
The writer of Hebrews repeatedly acknowledged that they were able to accomplish these greats feats only by faith. Verse 6 states, “And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.” When you look at the challenges in your life, what do you do? There are only two options available to people of faith. It’s either you hold fast to your faith in God or you allow the enemy to walk all over you. Sometimes, the issues that confront you, can be so daunting that you feel powerless in the battle. That is the time to turn to some expert witnesses and glean from their experiences.

“It was by faith that Abraham obeyed when God called him to leave his home and go to another land that God would give him as his inheritance. He went without knowing where he was going.” (Verse 8) Abraham trusted an unknown God. He left the comfort and security of the life he knew for the unknown. It didn’t end there. God promised Abraham a son in his old age. Abraham had to wait twenty-five years for the birth of the child. Twenty years is a long time to wait for a promise, but Abraham waited. Abraham trusted God. Genesis 15:6 says, “And Abram believed the Lord, and the Lord counted him as righteous because of his faith.”
When you find yourself struggling to trust God in your crisis, listen to the testimonies of the expert witness in Hebrews chapter 11. Verses 33-34 says, “By faith these people overthrew kingdoms, ruled with justice, and received what God had promised them. They shut the mouths of lions, quenched the flames of fire, and escaped death by the edge of the sword. Their weakness was turned to strength. They became strong in battle and put whole armies to flight.” You can do it. He is the same God; He does not change.
God changeth not. He is forever the same. What a savior! I thank God for who He is.
