Joseph Supports Mary

Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit.  Matthew 1:18 NKJV

Life can be troubling; no explanation is really needed! Things are going well; your plans are moving in the right direction and the future looks promising. Then out of nowhere, something unexpected happens. It knocks the wind out of your sail; you have no idea what your response should be. You want to ask for help, but the people in your circle, have never had to deal with this issue before. You spend a few days by yourself, looking at the problem and examining every option available to you, before you choose a response.

What can be more disturbing in the life of a young man that to discover that his future wife is with child and he is not the father. That was the predicament Joseph faced and he had to decide how to proceed. He had every right to make a fuss and break off the engagement. But Joseph was not that kind of man, he was not going to marry her but the breakup was going to be discrete. As he pondered all these things in his heart, he had a dream. In his dream, the angel of the Lord told him, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”(verses 20-21

The visit from the angel changed his plans. He no longer felt betrayed; he understood the plan of God. Your connection to the individual with the assignment requires a commitment from you. Your love and support is needed to ensure the success of the assignment. Joseph never abandoned Mary. If you choose to abandon the assignment and the individual, the job will get done, but you will miss out on the blessings of God. I am not saying that it was easy for them but God blessed them; every year, during the celebration of Christmas, people talk about Mary and Joseph as they celebrate Christmas.

Thought for Today: Friend, your connection is important.

Have a blessed day and Walk in faith and victory.
