In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Matthew 6:9 NKJV
Jesus had twelve disciples and they looked at Him and saw something in His life that amazed them. They observed the quality of His prayer life. It created a yearning in their hearts so one of them went to Him and asked Him to teach them how to prayer. Jesus gave them a model for praying. First, the prayer was directed to the Father. The Father mentioned here, is not our earthly fathers, but God, the Father of our Lord, Jesus Christ. “Hallowed be Your name.”
How do we hallow the name of our Heavenly Father? Hallow means to sanctify or set apart. God’s Word Translation reads, “Our Father in heaven, let your name be kept holy.” When we hallow the name of God we do what He says. “Then the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not believe Me, to hallow Me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them.” Numbers 20:12. What happened? They were complaining again about leaving Egypt because there was no drinking water. God told Moses to speak to the rock but in his anger, Moses struck the rock twice. So let us hallow the name of God in our lives in everything we do and say. If we desire change then we need to genuinely hallow the name of our God.
Thought for Today: God desires obedience.
Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
