The Faithful Rock

He is the Rock; his deeds are perfect. Everything he does is just and fair. He is a faithful God who does no wrong; how just and upright he is! Deuteronomy 32:4 NLT

The first statement says that He is a Rock. The scientific definition of a rock says that a rock is a solid mass of geological materials. Geological materials include individual mineral crystals, inorganic non-mineral solids like glass, pieces broken from other rocks, and even fossils. It’s impossible to live on this earth and not interact with rocks either directly or indirectly.  Rocks are used in construction. Mansions use them and simple homes use them too. They are necessary for a firm foundation. In the Word of God when you read that He is the Rock, it does not mean that God is a mountain.

When He is your Rock, He is the foundation on which to build your life. There are so many things people build on. They build on wealth and fame. But the winds and rain of life will cause the house of your life to crash and come down. The Rock is a symbol of strength. So our God is strong. David talks about his reliance on the Rock in times of trouble in Psalm 61:2-4. The Rock is a hiding place; it’s a place of safety. Don’t build your life on the uncertain foundation of the things of this world. Build on the the faithful Rock; you can depend on Him.
