We live in a world today that seeks to devalue people. There is no respect for anyone and sometimes if we are not careful, that same attitude would invade people of faith. Listen to what the Lord said to Jeremiah: “I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb.” Before he was conceived, God took notice of Jeremiah and set him apart. What a blessing! This is something great to read any day of the week in any month of the year. God set Jeremiah apart as a prophet. But that applies to you and also to me.
While we are not all prophets, God had gifted everyone with the ability to serve in the kingdom of God. The issue is not one of ability; but one of availability. God has a plan and a purpose for each life. Sometimes, there is a tendency to look longingly at someone and their gift. If God intended for you to operate in that gift, He would have placed that ability in you. Just as God set Jeremiah apart for a specific purpose, He has set you aside also. The Apostle Paul said it like this in Romans 12:4, “For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function.” He has set you apart for a specific purpose. So with purpose comes the responsibility to live out your purpose in a manner that glorifies God.
Thought for Today: Serve God faithfully; you have been set apart.
