Selected by God!

“I chose you before I gave you life, and before you were born I selected you to be a prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah 1:5 GNT

Life is all about choices! It’s one of those things you do repeatedly every day without even thinking about it.  In the morning, you have to decide if you should have breakfast or not, and if so, what it would be. The cycle continues because in every area of life, there are choices to be made. Children chose teams on the playground; employers choose employees in the workplace. But, the best choice of all is found in this verse: God chose Jeremiah.

God created the world. In Psalm 8, David reflected on the glory of God in creation and he began, “O Lord, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth!”  As he continued to bask in the wonders of creation, he exclaimed, “Yet you made them only a little lower than God and crowned them with glory and honor.”  Verse 5.  So God, the creator chose Jeremiah. Whenever people are chosen, it’s an honor; so Jeremiah was blessed because he was chosen by God.

But there is another special word in this verse: selected. Think about this, when you go out to breakfast and they have orange juice and apple juice, you can choose orange juice. However, if that restaurant has a variety and you can only have one, you take the time to look carefully. There is orange juice, apple juice, pineapple juice, cranberry juice, grape juice, in addition to, carrot juice and cucumber juice. You take the time and carefully select the juice you would like to have; you may even ask for additional time to help you make your selection. Before Jeremiah was born, he was selected by God. Sometimes, people try to devalue who you are. When the enemy comes to infer that you have no value, remember God chose you and selected you because there is value in you.

Thought for Today: Friend, don’t allow anyone to devalue who God selected.

Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
