But when Moses delivered this message to the Israelites, they didn’t even hear him—they were that beaten down in spirit by the harsh slave conditions. Exodus 6:9 MSG
Life can be tough and at some point in life, everyone goes through a rough patch. Sometimes it can be your health when sickness overtakes your body. But how do you deal with issues that take the fight out of you? Aladdin said, “You can’t choose what happens to you, but you can choose who you become because of it.” So what do you do? Do you run and hide from the circumstances in your life or do you face the issues head on? Today we will look at a group of people who had no hope. Their situation demoralized them. They were so beaten down that they could not hear the message of hope that was delivered by Moses.
They felt hopeless but that did not mean that there was no hope for them. They chose to allow the hardships they faced to break their spirits. It is easy to understand how they became hopeless. Many years of constant abuse, would do that to you. But God heard their cries and set a plan in motion to bring change into their lives. Unfortunately, they couldn’t imagine life without the slave master’s whip. It’s possible that Moses could have been discouraged by their response. It doesn’t matter what you face, God can bring change; the deliverance God promised, and the freedom they were longing for, was on the way.
There are people around us who are beaten down by the issues of life. When you approach them with the Good News of Jesus Christ, they can’t hear you. They are beaten down in spirit by the enemy and they can’t imagine that Jesus Christ would take the time to interact with them. Jesus said, “A thief is only there to steal and kill and destroy. I came so they can have real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of.” John 10:10. God is faithful. He is ready and able to bring the change you need into your heart and life.
Thought for Today: Friend, Jesus offers eternal life.
Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
