The Lord is good to those who wait [confidently] for Him, To those who seek Him [on the authority of God’s word]. Lamentations 3:25 AMP
It’s almost impossible to go through life and never experience goodness from someone. Teachers discourage students from using words like good in the writing. Good tends to get overworked in their writing assignments: lunch was good; school was good; the trip home was good; the day was good. It’s quite possible that on that good day, the student was running at lunchtime, fell and got a big bruise that required medical attention from the school nurse and the day was still good.
But when the Bible says that God is good, you don’t have to worry that the word is being overworked because God is truly good. King David understood that the goodness of God can rescue you from danger. One day David found himself in an awkward position. While he was running from Saul, he made an unholy alliance. He went to Ashish, king of Gath. When his servants saw David, they became alarmed and asked the king, “Is this not David the king of the land? Did they not sing in praise of this one as they danced, saying, ‘Saul has slain his thousands, And David his ten thousands’?” 1 Samuel 21:11. David overheard the conversation and recognized the danger that he was in. He pretended that he was mad. His extreme behavior caused them to send him away. He gave thanks in Psalm 34. David said, “This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him And saved him from all his troubles.” Verse 11. He knew that God was good to him.
God wants what’s best for you. He is not content to see people in sin and remain inactive. God’s goodness is part of who He is. God wants you to come to Him so that He can have a relationship with you. Paul told the Roman Church, “Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?” Romans 2:4. God extends His goodness to the undeserving so that they can come to Him. Take time and meditate on the goodness of God.
Thought for Today: Friend, the Lord is good; wait for Him.
Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory
