Just Trust God

When the men who lived there asked Isaac about his wife, Rebekah, he said, “She is my sister.” He was afraid to say, “She is my wife.” He thought, “They will kill me to get her, because she is so beautiful.” Genesis 26:7 NLT

If you asked the question, ‘What is your greatest fear?” You will receive a variety of answers. Fear is an emotion that every human who lives on this earth has experienced.  The experts tell us that small babies experience anxiety. It’s easy to tell when the infant gets a little older that they fear strangers. Many children would turn their backs if you extend your hands to take them from their parents. You see, they know their parents but they don’t know you.

Isaac was adjusting to life in his new home. He paid attention to their culture; and the people were paying attention to him also. One day, the men asked him about his wife.  He was afraid to tell the truth so he told the men that she was his sister. Isaac forgot what God said to him.  God told him, “I will be with you.”  But when he faced the men of the city, he had difficulty trusting God with his life. His lie exposed his wife to danger. Any one of those men could have taken her to his house.  Sometimes, you might believe that you need to take over the issues in your life, just like Isaac.

One day the king observed an intimate moment between Isaac and Rebekah and he was alarmed. He sent for Isaac, to discuss the matter with him. Isaac admitted that he lied because he was afraid he would be killed if someone wanted to make Rebekah their wife. The king was upset; he told Isaac, “How could you do this to us? One of my people might easily have taken your wife and slept with her, and you would have made us guilty of great sin.” Even though Isaac didn’t trust God to take care of the issue with his wife, God intervened and the king ordered protection for both Isaac and Rebekah. Sometimes, like Isaac, people fail to trust God with their situations. But God is faithful; He will keep His word and would not allow you to bear that burden alone.

Thought for Today: Friend, when in fear, trust God.

Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
