Lord, do not stay far away! You are my strength; come quickly to my aid! Psalms 22:19 NLT

There are some experiences in life that you would prefer to pass you by. Then some of those same events come knocking at your door. Maybe you are dreaming; but when you open your eyes and face your day, it’s not a dream but your reality. You try everything but nothing works. When you find yourself in that situation, what do you do?

In Psalm 22, David was in the midst of an overwhelming situation.  He believed his enemies had somehow gained the upper hand over him. But even so, he was not about to surrender to them. Instead he decided to call upon the Lord, his God. In his despair he asked, My God, my God, why have you abandoned me? Why are you so far away when I groan for help?” At times, we can identify with that same feeling: feeling abandoned by God.

When his enemies realized the circumstances in his life, they jeered at him, they said, “Is this the one who relies on the Lord? Then let the Lord save him! If the Lord loves him so much, let the Lord rescue him!” But, while they jeered, David understood that his rescue would come from God. And so he prayed, “Do not stay so far from me, for trouble is near, and no one else can help me.”  Sometimes, when we are distressed we look around for someone to help us. Then, we are disappointed when that person fails; remember real help comes from God.

Just like David, our hope is in God. He is our strength. The Bible says in Isaiah 59:19 NKJV, So shall they fear The name of the Lord from the west, And His glory from the rising of the sun; When the enemy comes in like a flood, The Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him. In the midst of your storm, your God, your powerful God, will show Himself strong because He is the Omnipotent One.

Thought for Today: Friend, God is the only help you need.

Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
