For you are God, O Sovereign Lord. Your words are truth, and you have promised these good things to your servant. 2 Samuel 7:28 NLT
Have you ever had a desire to do something wonderful for someone? You take your time and carefully create an action plan. It could be a surprise birthday party for someone in your family; or, it could be that special family vacation. There are some things that are special and require careful planning. When it is time to execute, you enlist the help of your friends to get the desired effect; then you would have some very happy people because they appreciated your effort.
There came a day in the life of King David when the Lord had given him rest from his enemies. One day, he began to think of the Ark of God. He looked at his home and saw how great it was constructed, while the Ark of God was in a tent. David had a desire to build a house for God and so he consulted with Nathan, the prophet. Nathan replied to the king, “Go ahead and do whatever you have in mind, for the Lord is with you.”
However, God spoke to Nathan that night; He said that David would not build the house, but God gave David a promise, that He would make his name as famous as anyone, who has ever lived on the earth! You might wonder why God would do such a thing, especially when David was not going to build that house. Well, God is not like man; He looks at the heart. David chose to do something that would honor God and God rewarded him. You see, David cultivated a lifestyle of honoring God. Honoring God with your life does not mean that you are living a perfect life; honoring God talks about the condition of your heart.
David would not see the fulfillment of the promises with his eyes but he trusted the faithfulness of God to do what He says He will do. Many times you have a word from God but you want to see it immediately and God seems to be taking a mighty long time. Our time is not God’s time. Don’t put God in the same category as your microwave. He is God! 2 Peter 3:8 says, “A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day.” So don’t be discouraged. Even people who don’t go to church know about King David. God can be trusted with your life.
Thought for Today: Friend, God can be trusted.
Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
