Walk in Holiness

As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; 1 Peter 1:14-15 NIV

The joy of any parent is an obedient child. We have all seen episodes of parents who have no control over their children. The children are doing as they please and the parents are embarrassed and frustrated. Everyone is looking on as a two year old child is in control of two adults who are powerless and can’t seem to take control of the situation. Oh how they wished that they had an obedient child!

Obedient children are a product of good parenting. These children have learnt that there is power in the parent- child relationship and the power lies with the parents. They remember when they tried to exert control and they lost the privilege of playing with their favorite toys or they lost the opportunity to go outside. So they are trained to do what’s right. In the same way, people of faith need to be trained to walk in God’s way. There was a time when they walked in accordance with their desires. Then Jesus Christ brought change into their lives.

Now, there is a decision to make: walk with God and live to please Him or continue to do your own thing. As an obedient child, you have to forget the things you used to do before you were trained in walking in holiness. The Apostle Paul said, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” 2 Corinthians 5:17. The decision is based on who God is. He is holy and as you walk with Him you must also be holy.

Thought for Today: Friend, be holy because God is holy.

Have a blessed day and walk-in faith and victory
