Therefore see that you walk carefully [living life with honor, purpose, and courage; shunning those who tolerate and enable evil], not as the unwise, but as wise [sensible, intelligent, discerning people], Ephesians 5:15 AMP
Parents provide guidelines for the behavior of the children. Children sometimes see these guidelines as a hardship but parents have walked the road before, so they know the pitfalls that lie ahead. The children that adhere to their parents’ guidelines find that when difficulties present themselves, they can revisit the guidelines and overcome. Those who want to navigate their lives alone, find that they encounter pitfalls along the way.
The Apostle Paul took the time to instruct the church at Ephesus. He was unable to meet with them in person so he sent them a letter. In this portion of the letter, he cautioned them about their walk. Solomon said, “Consider well and watch carefully the path of your feet, And all your ways will be steadfast and sure.” Proverbs 4:26. So it is important that people of faith pay attention to their walk.
Why is your walk important? Your walk is important because it has the ability to draw men and women to God. Your walk can confirm to the unbelieving world that Jesus Christ can make the difference in someone’s life. Romans 8:1 tells us, “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.” There is a flesh walk and a Spirit walk so every individual has to choose their walk. Galatians 5:19-21 talks about the works of the flesh and the Apostle Paul identified them by name then he concluded that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
You might be wondering if it’s possible to walk successfully before God. It can be done; it begins when you walk in the Spirit. If you are still wondering how you can tell if you are walking in the Spirit; well, in the same way that you can identify the works of the flesh, you can identify the works of the Spirit of God in the life of the individual. “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.” Galatians 5:22-23. So, walk in honor and purpose and God will be glorified in your life.
Thought for Today: Friend, walk in the spirit and honor God.
