The Best Valentine’s Gift

“For God so [greatly] loved and dearly prized the world, that He [even] gave His [One and] only begotten Son, so that whoever believes and trusts in Him [as Savior] shall not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:16 AMP

February 14th is a special day in the lives of many people; it’s Valentine’s Day. Some people will be happily surprised and some will be sadly disappointed. Many people expect lavish gifts, as the ultimate benchmark, to tell how much the important people in their lives love them. While you can give without loving; you cannot love without giving. Many times people focus on the wrong gift.

Nowadays, price determines the value of a gift. This is not just about adults but that attitude has already impacted the minds of our children. So your gift is not from your heart but from your wallet. Is that the way we should look at a gift? The value of a gift should first be determined by the love in the heart of the person giving the gift. True love gives gifts of value. However, that does not mean that the recipient will receive the gift in the same manner and love in which it was given. God is the best example of loving and giving.

God’s gift was one that was extremely valuable to Him; He gave His Son. Why would a holy God give His only Son for mankind? You see, God has great love for the people of the world. When man sinned and destroyed the relationship he had with God; God removed man from His presence. When God created man, His desire was to have fellowship with him. But sin interrupted that fellowship. God wanted to restore the relationship with man so He gave His One and only Son. Why would He do that? It was the only way to restore the fellowship and relationship that was lost.

This gift was costly for both the Father and the Son. Since man sinned, then man had to die to pay the penalty of sin. But a sinful man would not have satisfied the requirement, so God had to send His Son. Jesus Christ died on the cross so that we would not have to fulfill the requirement that God desires. He offers the gift of eternal life to all who believe in Him. This is the best Valentine’s gift you can receive today; the precious gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ. Accept His gift today and begin a Love Walk with Him.

Thought for Today: Friend, God wants to give you the best Valentine’s gift possible; accept it.

Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
