Have you ever seen a child who had an assignment to complete but would not settle down and do it? You watch him or her do everything else but prepare for the task ahead. The child believes that it would be as easy as eating ice cream. However, you know from experience that it’s not that easy, eventually, that child will have consequences for the lack of preparation.
Unfortunately, that is human nature; we get in the way of our own progress and in this season of Lent, we tend to do that a lot. Although there are many things that can derail our time with God, there are times that we are the biggest roadblocks in our way. We have a “To Do List” that is so long that it could take the remainder of the year to complete; yet, we think that we can do it all in one day. We become distracted by all the things that are happening in our lives and we forfeit our quiet time with God.
Well, when these things happen, we need to stop and evaluate our activities. If we are too busy for God, then we are just too busy. Sometimes, I must confess that I am too busy and I have to slow down. There are so many things to do and so little time to get it done. Look at what Matthew 6:33 AMP says, “But first and most importantly seek (aim at, strive after) His kingdom and His righteousness [His way of doing and being right—the attitude and character of God], and all these things will be given to you also.”
When you put God first, He will direct your activities and you will accomplish much more when He is first and taking the lead. The issue that should take you days to sort through would be done in one afternoon. The contractor, who is giving you a hard time to resolve an issue, would just quit stalling and complete the repair. So in this season of Lent let is cultivate the habit of spending quality time with God. You see, we actually shortchange ourselves when we are too busy to spend time with Him.
Thought for Today: Friend, always make time for God.
Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
Take time for Jesus, he took time for you.
