Activate Your Miracle

One of the best things in life is to have help when you are in need. Most of the times, people believe that if you are in need it means that you are having financial difficulty. That might be true in many cases, however, it’s not always the case. There are many instances in which people have all the money necessary to live a good life, but there is still a need.

2 Kings 4, tells the story of a woman just like that. She was a woman of means but she had a need that money couldn’t buy. But, the lack in her life did not make her bitter and uncaring.  This woman met the prophet Elijah and she was very hospitable towards him. After a while, whenever Elijah visited Shunem, he would stop by her house and there would always something for him to eat.

One day, she had a conversation with her husband; she said, “I am sure this man who stops in from time to time is a holy man of God.  Let’s build a small room for him on the roof and furnish it with a bed, a table, a chair, and a lamp. Then he will have a place to stay whenever he comes by.” (Verses 9-10) NLT.  And that is what they did. On his next visit, he was pleasantly surprised at his accommodations.

So Elijah desired to do something to show his gratitude. He asked the woman if he could use his influence with king or the commander of the army on her behalf; she told him that she was ok. But Elijah really wanted to express his gratitude. His servant observed that there was a need in her life; she was childless and her husband was old.

Now Elijah had an opportunity to do something for that woman. So he called her and he said, “Next year at this time you will be holding a son in your arms!” “No, my lord!” she cried. “O man of God, don’t deceive me and get my hopes up like that.” verse 16. There was a longing in her heart but she had lost hope that she could conceive a child. But the prophet spoke a word in her life and that word produced results.

What need do you have in your life that you’ve just about given up hope that it will happen? There is hope in God. She activated her miracle by helping someone and expected nothing in return. If you have a need that remains unfulfilled in your life; activate your miracle.
