Trust Him

There are some people who are always working on a project.  Sometimes it seems that they can find a project where none exist. They are happiest when they collect all their materials and they are ready to work because most of the time, the people around them cannot see the finished product before it gets done. However, these project oriented people can look and see the end result before they begin. I should know because I’m one of those people always on a project or about to begin one.

It seems that King David had a project of his own; In 2 Samuel 7, David had a desire to build a house for God. He looked at where he lived and wanted to build a permanent house for the Ark of God. He went to consult with Nathan the prophet. Nathan replied, “Go ahead and do whatever you have in mind, for the Lord is with you.” (Verse 3)

However, God spoke to Nathan that night. He said that David would not build the house but God gave David a promise in verse 9. It says, “Now I will make your name as famous as anyone who has ever lived on the earth!” David  would not see this Temple with his eyes but he trusted the faithfulness of God to do what he says He will do. Many times you have a word from God but you want to see the end result immediately.  God seems to be taking a mighty long time.

David’s responded to God’s promise in verse 28, he said, “For you are God, O Sovereign Lord . Your words are truth, and you have promised these good things to your servant.” Our time is not God’s time. We also need to trust the faithfulness of God. Don’t put God in the same category as your microwave. He is God. 2 Peter 3:8 tells us, “A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day.” So don’t be discouraged. Even people who don’t go to church know about King David. God can be trusted with your life. Trust Him.

Thought for Today: Friend, you can trust the faithfulness of God.

Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
