When teenagers get their first job, they are looking for money. Money to pay for things that they want; a way to pay for things that their parents would not buy. When adults look for a job, they look for a job with benefits. Simply put, a benefit is an advantage or something good. When your job offers health insurance it is something good. When your parents have a car, that is an advantage; it’s better to travel to school by car than on the bus.
People love benefits but there are some benefits that are far superior to those in the workplace. David understood that benefits originated from God. In Psalm 68:19 NKJV says, “Blessed be the Lord, Who daily loads us with benefits, The God of our salvation!” These benefits surpass all the benefits we can get anywhere. Then David had an overwhelming desire to praise God so he said, “Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits:” (Psalm 103:2) When you consider who God is and all the wonderful things He has done; what else can you do?
So David continued to list all the benefits he enjoyed from the hands of God. David was a wealthy man yet he did not mention his houses or his chariots. Instead, he thanked God for forgiving his iniquities. Iniquity is defined as being wicked or immoral in nature or character. David’s actions at times were wicked or immoral in character but God forgave him. David listed this first when he began to recall the benefits of serving God.
As a result David went on to say in verse 10, “He has not dealt with us according to our sins, Nor punished us according to our iniquities.” When we consider our actions and their consequences, like David, we can recognize God’s mercy towards us. Today, you can take advantage of the benefits offered by God and like David, He will forgive all your iniquities.
Thought for Today: Friend, God is in the business of forgiving iniquities.
Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
