Turn it Over

I was looking over an old journal today and I saw 1 Peter 5:7. I use the Women’s Journal in the Bookstore during my private devotions and every now and then I will browse through an old journal. This particular entry was made in August of 2021.

Many of us are used to reading, “casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” (NKJV) But I used the J.B. Phillips New Testament Version and it says, “You can throw the whole weight of your anxieties upon him, for you are his personal concern.” That version speaks to me; sometimes I have a tendency to become anxious. I experience that uneasiness and I hate it. People have a tendency to say, “How could you be a servant of God and have those emotions?” What people tend to forget is that we are not perfect and in our humanity, we have issues.

But the more you lean into God and study His word, the easier it becomes to conquer these emotions that are trying to drive a wedge in your relationship with God. About six weeks ago my husband and I were having a conversation and I began to feel anxious. The Holy Spirit whispered, “Be anxious for nothing.’ That has made a difference in my life. Anxiety, like fear, is a normal emotion but the problem begins when the emotion is outside of the normal level.

Life is a journey so I can say that I have become less anxious. I am learning to throw the weight of my anxiety on the Lord because I am His personal concern. What is the battle in your life? You too can throw the weight of your issue on Him because you are His personal concern.

Thought for Today: Friend, Jesus cares so turn it over to Him.

Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
