We all love to watch movies where people who are victimized are victorious in the end. We sat and our hearts ached when we saw the obstacles they faced and the hardships they had to endure. We celebrated their victory then we told our friends and family that the movie was great.
In life, we have endured some difficult times. Some of us had health issues, family issues, financial issues, or a host of other issues. These experiences can be difficult but we have triumphed over them. The Children of Israel had a slavery issue while they were living in Egypt. A Pharaoh who had no idea about Joseph’s contribution to the country, enslaved his family members. But God delivered them. In Deuteronomy 4:20 NLT, Moses said, “Remember that the Lord rescued you from the iron-smelting furnace of Egypt in order to make you his very own people and his special possession, which is what you are today.”
Here Moses recalled what God did for them as they were about to walk into their destiny. Success depends on knowing the identity of your power source. When you move into a new place, you have to remember the location of the light switch so you can turn on the light in the dark. At first, you might need to stop and think, but soon you will remember.
Moses encouraged the people to remember because that memory will impact their future. I know looking back is frowned upon. Don’t look back to long for things that are harmful. However, if you want to walk in victory, you must look back. When the enemy stands in front of you to defeat you, look back and recall the victories you’ve experienced at the hand of God. Each victory is a landmark that says God did it before and he will do it again. Since God does not change, rest assured that He will do it again.
Thought for Today: Friend, take a moment and recall God’s blessings in your life.
Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
