How many times have you seen children out in the public behaving badly? People are looking and shaking their heads. They can’t belief that these children are so disrespectful to their parents and even more surprised that the parents have no control over their children. The children have no problem throwing a fit and the parents are extremely embarrassed.
As children of God, we too at times can behave in a manner where we embarrass ourselves and dishonor our God. 1 Peter 2:1 NLT says, “So get rid of all evil behavior. Be done with all deceit, hypocrisy, jealousy, and all unkind speech.” Evil behavior is a choice; we choose to continue in wrongdoing, or we choose to do what is right. It’s always easy to swim with the current; it requires little effort. It takes a lot of effort to go against the tide. In like manner it’s easy to indulge in evil behavior. We just do as we please without caring about how our actions affect others. So, getting rid of evil behavior requires work. It starts with a desire in your heart. It takes prayer and submitting yourself to the Spirit of God.
3 John 1:11 tells us, “Dear friend, don’t let this bad example influence you. Follow only what is good. Remember that those who do good prove that they are God’s children, and those who do evil prove that they do not know God.” People may laugh at you; call you names but you must determine in your heart that you must press forward. Don’t be too concerned about what others think; people rejected Jesus so they will reject you too. But Jesus was chosen by God for great honor and God will honor you for choosing to do what is right. Don’t be discouraged if you do good and your good is evil spoken of. Just continue to do what is right, Galatians 6:2 tells us, “So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.”
Thought for Today: Friend, continue doing what is right.
Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
You cannot go wrong when it’s right.
