Your Connection Matters

Modern living is filled with light; most of us have electrical lighting in our homes. One of the most inconvenient situations in modern day living is a power outage. I remember years ago when we faced a massive power outage on the east coast in 2003. It was almost impossible to drive. We had to light candles and the only connection to the outside world was a land line telephone. My husband was stranded in Manhattan and did not make it home until the following day. It was not a pleasant experience.

It is not surprising that the Apostle Paul told the believers in Ephesians 5:8-9 GNT, You yourselves used to be in the darkness, but since you have become the Lord’s people, you are in the light. So you must live like people who belong to the light, for it is the light that brings a rich harvest of every kind of goodness, righteousness, and truth.” Paul reminded the believers that they used to be in darkness. The dictionary defines darkness as the absence of light. Before, we also used to be darkness; now, we are the Lord’s people and no longer live and walk in darkness.

So how do we walk as people of light? Well, the first step is to know the source of light. In John 8:12 tells us, Jesus spoke to the Pharisees again. “I am the light of the world,” he said. “Whoever follows me will have the light of life and will never walk in darkness.” If you want to walk in light you have to be connected to the light of the world. If you live in a house and the house is wired for electricity but not connected to the electric company, you will live in darkness. It would not matter if you had the latest in technology in the building, without that connection, you would live in darkness. Let us stay connected to the light of the world so that we can walk as children of light.

Thought for Today: Friend, walk in the light.

Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
