Who’s In Control?

The fight for control is big in the world today; parents want to control their children and the children want to control their parents. Countries go to war because one nation has a desire to control another. In every area of life, there is a battle for control.

The dictionary defines control as the power to influence or direct people’s behavior or the course of events. There is an internal battle raging inside of every individual.; it’s a battle for control. “So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace. .” (Romans 8:6 NLT) How can you identify the controlling force in your life? Well, you would need to examine your life to find the answer. You will lean either towards the Spirit or your sinful nature.

The Bible tells us  in Romans 3:23, “For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.” This tells us that we are inclined towards sin. What can we do? Are we doomed to live out our sinful nature? Romans 8:8 makes it clear that if we allow our sinful nature to control us, we cannot please God. And the battle continues. “The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions.” Galatians 5:17.

Friends, all is not lost. It is possible to live under the control of the Spirit of God because Jesus Christ makes the difference. Romans 8:10 tells us, “And Christ lives within you, so even though your body will die because of sin, the Spirit gives you life because you have been made right with God.” If we surrender control to the Lord Jesus, we can live a life that pleases God.

Thought for Today: Friend, let Jesus take control of your life.

Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
