Pray: God Answers

We are  living in an era of bad news. It seems that every time you answer the telephone, it’s a source of sad news. People are sick and dying and it seems never ending. When the unwelcome news is not about who we know, it’s disaster taking place somewhere and we have no idea how to cope.

It’s easy to become overwhelmed by what is happening around us; but what can we do? If we try to get help from our neighbor or friend, they have overwhelming issues that they are trying to manage themselves. When we look into the word of God, we see that David had some moments like those. He understood what it felt like when life was out of his control. In Psalm 61:2 AMP, it says, “From the end of the earth I call to You, when my heart is overwhelmed and weak; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I [a rock that is too high to reach without Your help].”

David knew from experience how to cope in these situations and in verse 1 he said, “Hear my cry, O God; Listen to my prayer.” When life becomes more than we can bear, we need to go to God in prayer. Simply put, prayer is having a conversation with God. David recognized that the issues in his live were beyond his ability to resolve so he took them to God in prayer. In Jeremiah 33:3 God said, ‘Call to Me and I will answer you, and tell you [and even show you] great and mighty things, [things which have been confined and hidden], which you do not know and understand and cannot distinguish.’

Many times, we want the answer without praying for it. If I walked into the bank because I  need a loan and remained quiet, the employees would be unable to help me. However, I  told them what I needed, I would be able to get help. It might not be the help I want but I would get the help that I could manage. I might want a loan for one million dollars, and they would laugh because I cannot manage a loan that large. God is the same way; He will answer our prayer, but according to His will for us. When you pray, leave the answer to God.

Thought for Today: Friend, trust God to give you, His best.

Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
