There are some topics in the faith community that generate lots of conversation and one of them is prayer. There are so many differing points of view. I am by no means an expert, but I do believe the answer to all the questions can be found in the word of God.
There are those who believe that once a prayer is made before God, God is obligated to grant that request. I remember when my children were little people; they wanted many things, but I had to use wisdom to determine what was beneficial at the time the item was requested and what would be harmful not because the item was bad but the suitability at the time the request was made. So sometimes the answer was yes and at other times the answer was no. I believe it is the same with God. There are things we ask God for that are not right for us at the time we make the request.
I John 5:14 NKJV says, “Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.” This clearly tells us that God answers are connected to His will. That means we need to put aside our agenda and instead do what God desires. In Matthew 12:50 Jesus said, “For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother.” Jesus places a high priority on doing the Father’s will; when we do, we can walk in relationship with Him.
In Romans 12:2 CEV, the Apostle Paul tells us, “Don’t be like the people of this world, but let God change the way you think. Then you will know how to do everything that is good and pleasing to him.” When we allow God to change the way we think, we would begin to live in a way that pleases Him. As a result, our prayer would be aligned with God’s will then we will receive the answers we seek.
Thought for Today: Friend, let God change you from the inside out.
Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
