It is the duty and responsibility of people of faith to engage in prayer. But what happens when we pray? Let us look at some people in the Bible who prayed and got a response from God. We love to get favorable responses to our request and when we pray, it’s not different.
In Daniel 2, there was a problem. The king had a dream and could not recall what he dreamed. He called the wise me and asked them to tell him his dream. They replied, “Long live the king! Tell us the dream, and we will tell you what it means.” (verse 4 NLT) The king replied, “I am serious about this. If you don’t tell me what my dream was and what it means, you will be torn limb from limb, and your houses will be turned into heaps of rubble! But if you tell me what I dreamed and what the dream means, I will give you many wonderful gifts and honors. Just tell me the dream and what it means!” (verses 5-6)
The king was serious. When Daniel heard that he and his friends were scheduled to die, he went to the king and asked for extra time; then he spoke to his friends. “He urged them to ask the God of heaven to show them his mercy by telling them the secret, so they would not be executed along with the other wise men of Babylon. That night the secret was revealed to Daniel in a vision. Then Daniel praised the God of heaven. ” (verse-18-19) Daniel received the answer to his prayer. His life was spared along with all the wise men in the kingdom.
There are things and issues that are affecting us that require that we take the time to seek the Lord in prayer. Sometimes, the answer does not only impact our lives but many more than we can imagine. When Daniel and his friends prayed, their prayer touched each wise man employed in the palace and their families. When we pray who knows how many lives we touch.
