One of the most difficult things to do is wait. When you are on your way to work with public transportation, it’s annoying when the buses and trains are not on schedule. So, we stand, look into the distance, and complain about the quality of the service when the transportation is late.
In Jeremiah 29, God told His people that He had plans for them. But waiting is never easy. While the people were living in exile, they were obedient to God’s command, but their hearts were looking forward to return to their homeland. Jeremiah 33:14 NLT says, “The day will come, says the Lord, when I will do for Israel and Judah all the good things, I have promised them.” All they had were God’s promises; but they waited on God.
God has proven repeatedly that He keeps His promises. David wanted to build a temple for the Lord. But God informed David that one of his sons will build that temple. He also promised David that He will make his name great. David praised God in 1 Chronicles 17:26; he said, “For you are God, O Lord. And you have promised these good things to your servant.” When Solomon dedicated the temple, he blessed the congregation saying, “Praise the Lord who has given rest to his people Israel, just as he promised. Not one word has failed of all the wonderful promises he gave through his servant Moses.” (1 Kings 8:56) David was confident in God’s faithfulness; he gave thanks even though he would not see the promise fulfilled; he knew God would do it.
Thought for Today: Friend, you can trust in the Lord.
Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
Hallelujah for the promises of God. His promises to us, God will keep, it will come to pass.
