All of us at some time or another have resorted to worry and become anxious. The experts tell us that occasional anxiety is normal. But what about those who are always worrying and live a lifestyle of being continually anxious? The medical community has identified a variety of disorders that are a direct result of excessive worrying. These disorders have a negative impact on the life of the individual.
Do you believe that God wants us to live with excessive worry? The Apostle Paul answered this question in Philippians 4:6 NLT: “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.” He gave us an alternative to worrying; he said that we should pray. In Matthew 6:25-34, Jesus talked about worry and asked His audience in verse 27 AMP: And who of you by worrying can add one hour to [the length of] his life? That clearly tells us that there is no profit in worrying.
The Apostle Paul admonished us to pray about everything. Jesus said, “Ask and keep on asking and it will be given to you; seek and keep on seeking and you will find; knock and keep on knocking and the door will be opened to you.” (Matthew 7:7) Then we need to be thankful. Thankfulness is not dependent on external circumstances, it’s an expression of the heart. When Job lost all his earthly possessions, he said, “Naked (without possessions) I came [into this world] from my mother’s womb, And naked I will return there. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; Blessed be the name of the Lord.” (Job 1:21) Let us endeavor to live a life of thanksgiving and leave worrying in our past. That would be a great change for 2024.
Thought for Today: Friend, don’t worry; pray.
Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
