When you listen to people share the word of God, you learn that lovingkindness is mercy. So, I wondered why Psalm 51:1 uses both words. Well, lovingkindness is English translation of the Hebrew word checed.
Psalm 51:1 NKJV
Have mercy upon me, O God,
According to Your lovingkindness;
According to the multitude of Your tender mercies,
Blot out my transgressions.
Psalm 63:3-4 NKJV
Because Your lovingkindness is better than life,
My lips shall praise You.
Thus I will bless You while I live;
I will lift up my hands in Your name.
Psalm 36:7 NKJV
How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God!
Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of Your wings.
Psalm 40:11 NKJV
Do not withhold Your tender mercies from me, O Lord;
Let Your lovingkindness and Your truth continually preserve me.
Psalm 17:7 NKJV
Show Your marvelous lovingkindness by Your right hand,
O You who save those who trust in You
From those who rise up against them.
