Random Act of Kindness

There are countless stories of individuals who after receiving compassion from someone, go out and interact harshly with someone when they have the power to show compassion. That is a pattern of behavior that has plagued humankind. Then there are stories of random acts of kindness that impact  the lives of others.

This tells us that we have a choice about the way we interact. It doesn’t take any effort to be unkind; it comes naturally because man lost that perfect relationship with God. However, it is in our capacity to show kindness. Many years ago, I was on a bus and a pregnant woman was standing. Someone got up out of their seat to allow her to sit. A man on the bus, pushed past her and took the seat, the riders on the bus asked him repeatedly to give the seat to the intended recipient, he refused. He was so absorbed in himself he failed to see others. Sometimes as people of faith, we too can become focused on things that prevent us from being lights in the world.

Have you ever focused on the wrongdoing and forgot to see the individual? We forget that John 3:16 AMP says, “For God so [greatly] loved and dearly prized the world, that He [even] gave His [One and] only begotten Son, so that whoever believes and trusts in Him [as Savior] shall not perish, but have eternal life. Our first concern as people of faith is to reach the ‘whosoever’ we meet. Salvation is free and there are many out in the world who needs to hear that Jesus loves them. When we focus on, their actions and attitude, we cannot be the light to lead them to Jesus Christ. Our random act of kindness goes a long way in reaching people with the message of the gospel. Why? Our kindness will touch their hearts so that they will open their ears to what we have to say. Let us try to do a random act of kindness every day.

Thought for Today: Friend, kindness is a fruit of the Spirit.

Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
