There are people who listen to instructions and take it to heart; they do their best to follow the guidelines set for them. Then there are others: they do as they please and disregard the laws that were set before them. There are different outcomes for those who obey and those who do their own thing.
Our book of instruction, the Bible, gives us guidelines to follow. God expects obedience from us. When the children of Israel left Egypt, Moses told then, “If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully keep all his commands that I am giving you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the world. (Deuteronomy 28:1 NLT) God places a high priority on obedience. While He was on earth, Jesus told His followers, “If you love me, obey my commandments.” (John 14:15) Our love for God drives us to obedience.
There are those who want to follow their own way. And while there are blessings for obedience, there are consequences for disobedience. Simply put, disobedience is a refusal to obey the rules set before you. Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away. These desires give birth to sinful actions. And when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death. (James 1:14-15) Why would anyone choose to disobey when there are blessings for obedience? It comes down to choice. We must choose. What will you choose to do?
Though for Today: Friend, choose to obey God.
Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
