Walking with God: Following the Example of Enoch

When you are on a journey, you interact with a variety of individuals. Some you might never see again; some might cross your path periodically; then there ae those who walk with us on the journey. In some instances, it is wonderful and at other times, it could be a hardship and a source of pain.

What does it take to walk successfully with someone? That is something that has challenged humanity from the beginning of time. Adam and Eve had two children and one killed the other. What went wrong? There is one requirement of walking together successfully; we must choose to agree. Can two people walk together without agreeing on the direction? (Amos 3:3 NLT) That question really hits the nail on the head. There must be agreement  when people walk together.

The same principle applies when we walk with God. Now that does not mean that God must agree with us. He is the creator, and He knows all things so that tells us that we need to agree with God. The word of God tells us who we are. “For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.” (Romans 3:23) If that were the end then we would be most miserable. But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. (Romans 5:8)

So, if it is our desire to walk with God successfully, we must agree with God. We must reject our way of thinking and agree with God. In Genesis, it tells us that Enoch walked with God. He was consistent: After the birth of Methuselah, Enoch lived in close fellowship with God for another 300 years, and he had other sons and daughters. (Genesis 5:22) It’s possible to walk successfully with God; Enoch walked in fellowship with God for over 300 years. We too can walk in close fellowship with God.

Thought for Today: Friend, walk with God.

Have a blessed day and walk in faith and victory.
