Wait on God: Soar Like Eagles

We live in a society that craves power; and many will do whatever it takes, even utilizing unethical practices, to gain power because we believe that the powerful is strong. The Bible gives us a radical journey to become strong. But those who trust the Lord will find new strength. They will be strong like eagles soaring upward on wings; they will walk and run without getting tired. (Isaiah 40:31 CEV). Man believes that strength comes through their actions.

But the strength we need comes from God, and it requires that we wait on Him. What does that mean? It does not mean that we sit in a corner of the house and wait for God to come knocking so that our strength will be renewed. The word used to express wait in Isaiah 41:31 comes from the Hebrew word qavah: it means to wait or look eagerly for; hope, expect. While we wait in hope and expectation, we are not idle; we are spending time in God’s presence waiting for Him to act. In Psalm 39:7 NLT David said, “And so, Lord, where do I put my hope? My only hope is in you.” David had a problem, and He was waiting for God to act.

Waiting gives us the strength to soar in whatever we undertake. I’m not here to say you will become CEO. That is not what God is talking about. I know a lady who soars in what she does. What does she do? She cleans her church. So how is that soaring? Well, everyone who walks into the sanctuary comments on how spotless it is. So, soar where you are and what you do. It’s not so much what you do but how you do it.

Thought for Today: Friend, when you wait, the Lord gives you the power to soar.
