We have been looking at what the word of God teaches us about complaining, and we wonder how we got there. If the weather is too hot, we complain; if it’s too cold, we complain, and as a result, we have become ungrateful because we have lost the art of being thankful.
When we look around us, people are dropping like flies. But God woke us up this morning. Did we take the time to say, “Thank You, Lord, to see this day.” No! We find a reason to make a negative statement. I am aware that we are living in difficult times, but what would happen if instead of complaining, we gave thanks? “Whatever happens, keep thanking God because of Jesus Christ. This is what God wants you to do.” (1 Thessalonians 5:18 CEV). That simple change would make a huge difference in our lives.
We have also lost the art of showing gratitude to those around us. We behave and convey the attitude that we are entitled to the kindness of others; we are not. We need to cultivate an attitude of gratitude and acknowledge those who have been and continue to be good to us. We need to go back to the heap where we threw out unwanted items and dig up the words, “Thank you,” and begin using them again. Friends, let’s replace complaining with thanksgiving. That would change us and those around us.
Thought for Today: Friend, we need to have an attitude of gratitude.
