Living and Walking in God’s Light

The dictionary defines community as a group of people living in the same place or having a particular characteristic in common. For the child of God, it goes deeper than that. The price of membership was paid with the blood of Jesus Christ.

1 John 1:7 AMP tells us, “but if we [really] walk in the Light [that is, live each and every day in conformity with the precepts of God], as He Himself is in the Light, we have [true, unbroken] fellowship with one another [He with us, and we with Him], and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin [by erasing the stain of sin, keeping us cleansed from sin in all its forms and manifestations].”  Our connection with God gives us a connection to each other- true unbroken fellowship with each other. That is God’s model for His children.

However, when we look at this community, at times we see factures in fellowship. Does that mean that there is a problem with God’s light? The previous verse answers this question: “If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness [of sin], we lie and do not practice the truth;”  God is no respecter of persons and at times the truth of the word of God can be brutal. As children of light, let us do all we can to live in peace with each other. (Romans 12:18).

Thought for Today: Friend, do your best to live at peace with everyone. (Romans 12:18)
