When Trouble Knocks!

There are some people who believe that those with an abundance of resources have no problems. They look at them and believe that just one speck of their resources would set them up for life, and all will be well.

What we fail to understand is that trouble does not differentiate. Trouble visits everyone from the lowly to those in high places. Trouble has no problem visiting the homeless on the street or the king in the palace. One day, King Asa found that he was under attack by a powerful force, a force he was unable to defend against. Asa didn’t panic and act foolishly. Then Asa cried out to the Lord his God, “O Lord, no one but you can help the powerless against the mighty! Help us, O Lord our God, for we trust in you alone. It is in your name that we have come against this vast horde. O Lord, you are our God; do not let mere men prevail against you!” (2 Chronicles 14:11 NLT).

No one is immune to the problems that plague all of humankind. The difference is, as people of faith, we have access to the power of God through prayer. The Father invites us to call Him, and He will answer. (Jeremiah 33:3). God answered Asa’s prayer. “So, the Lord defeated the Ethiopians in the presence of Asa and the army of Judah, and the enemy fled.” (2 Chronicles 14:12). Asa recognized that trouble does not respect wealth and status. Trouble of every kind must bow to the power of God.

Thought for Today: Friend, call on God; He answers.
