Every day, everybody engages in actions that provide either a benefit or a consequence. We would prefer that our actions produce positive results because, we believe, the other option is not beneficial. Those experiences that produce pain and heartbreak, we want to send them across town or better yet to another country.
But God sees the experiences in our lives differently. He allows both the mountain top and valley experiences. You see, God takes all the events in our life and use them to bring us nearer to him. The Apostle Paul said, “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” (Romans 8:28 NLT). When we think of him and the issues he faced, we wonder how he could say that.
Paul describes his experiences this way in 2 Corinthians 11:26, “I traveled on many long journeys. I have faced danger from rivers and from robbers. I have faced danger from my own people, the Jews, as well as from the Gentiles. I have faced danger in the cities, in the deserts, and on the seas. And I have faced danger from men who claim to be believers but are not.” (2 Corinthians 11:26) The price for Paul’s ministry was steep. Paul wrote 2 Corinthians before Romans. So, when Paul said that all things work for the good. He spoke from experience; the perils in life serve a purpose. Paul knew that God was using his perils to make him the man God created him to be. God will use your perils to be the person He created you to be.
Though for Today: Friend, trust God through the perils in your life.
